SOUL

Based anywhere & everywhere, Soul graduated from the Northern School of Contemporary Dance with a BPA (Hons). Upon graduating in 2017, Soul continued his training at the Salzburg Experimental Academy of Dance, Austria, where he was afforded the opportunity to develop his understanding and skill within a global context of Contemporary Dance. Throughout his training career he has worked with and been inspired by the likes of Mala Kline, Alexandra Waierstall, Anna Tenta, Julien Hamilton, Hagit Yakira, Jos Baker, amongst many others. Soul began his professional performance working with Jan Lauwers and Paul Blackman for the Salzburg Festspiele Opera, in April 2018, and he will continue his career creating and performing in Germany and Austria with choreographer Milla Koistinen, as of January 2018. Soul has choreographed and taught work at NSCD Centre for Advanced Training, Leeds, and for Gibralta International Dance association, Gibralta.

Soul has an invested interest in the value of individual creativity, and is eager to injecting honest and unique human experiences into physical and theatrical performance work. He is a keen young artist with an open and investigative energy, wanting to share his individual and considered thoughts with other artists alike and non-alike himself. His thoughts lend themselves to facilitating the ability to improvise functional, yet physical realisations of distinct ideas. His dance practice looks at pushing the body to physical exertion, through playful movement practice and contact work, with the aim of uncovering new movement potential. All of which, is an artistic approach that is challenging, liberating and is continually evolving.
